mahalie Researchers from the Vanderbilt University say that women who have a history of undergoing radiation therapy for cancer treatment during their childhood are at risk for giving birth to stillborn children. This was because they found high doses of radiation in the pelvis of 28 out of the 5,000 pregnant women subjects of the study.
There is a belief that radiotherapy affected the development of the uterus and ovaries. In the conducted study, 5 out of 28 women with high radiation levels in their pelvises had early child death or stillborn children.
As a reminder, doctors are urged to carefully monitor pregnancies of women cancer survivors with a history of radiation therapy.
On the other hand, chemotherapy drugs were found to have no harmful effects to future pregnancies. Furthermore, men are not at risk because new sperm is produced throughout their lives.

When you start the process of conception some naturopathic doctors are recommending the regular consumption of probiotics such as acidophilus. Reguarly consuming probiotics before and during pregnancy can go a long way toward ensuring a safe and healthy mom and baby.
Acidophilus, as are all probiotics, is a naturally occuring bacteria that helps to strengthen the immune system. It is often found in yogurt. Because probiotics help to improve the immune system among other things they can be very beneficial to a healthy pregnancy.
The benefits of taking probiotics during pregnancy are multiple. Not only does it help to improve moms immune system it might also help to prevent certain illnesses in baby such as asthma. Furthermore, acidophilus in particular is well known to relieve vaginal infections and yeast infections which can be troublesome throughout pregnancy.
Always consult your doctor or midwife before taking any supplement not otherwise prescribed.

mahalie A recent study published has stated that pregnant women who consume large qualities of high-fat content food could increase the chances of their child having obesity or diabetes.
The research presented by the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior, warned pregnant women to be careful with the types of food consumed during pregnancy.
The study was first conducted on rats where they were fed low-fat or high-fat diets. After giving birth, the rats were examined and the results showed that the pups from rats that had high-fat diets were categorized as overweight after a few weeks.
Whether the research is correct, women during pregnancy should adopt a healthy pregnancy diet to increase the chances of a healthy baby.

Being a person of science background, I often find it hard to believe in fertility statues and the likes, helping women get pregnant. However, if you believe in such things then I'm not going to condemn your belief either.
A woman from New Jersey is the latest to credit her pregnancy/conception to Ripley's Believe It Or Not! fertility statues that is currently touring the United States.
Ripley's fertility statues - five-foot tall wooden statues acquired from the Ivory Coast of West Africa in 1993 and placed in the lobby of Ripley Entertainment's corporate headquarters in Orlando - has been given credit by 13 women (including staffers and office visitors) who got pregnant.
The statues were put on public display around the United States and the number of women who said that the statues helped them get pregnant has grown to more than 2,000.
So what do you think? Do you think the fertility statues really work?
